i always set fitness goals that aren’t running related at all (like do 40 pushups without stopping or 5 pullups or in 8th grade i stretched every night for 3 months so i could touch my toes) and to be able to do this is one of said goals

It’s not about changing your diet or your exercise habits, its about changing your lifestyle. Being healthy makes you happier and when you see results that makes you 10x happier, believe me.
Follow your dreams, and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t reach your goal. Anything is possible if you’re willing to work for it.
